Holistically empowering individuals with information, resources and support
to achieve their education and career dreams
Why We Exist:
Today’s economic climate and job market is providing a world of constant change which requires all adults to revise their expectations, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in order to find a job and keep themselves employed long term. This changing world also requires all individuals to engage in life-long learning in order to maintain their job marketability over the long haul. Increasingly government, business, education, social service, and many non-profit organizations are attempting to respond to this changing global environment by offering a variety of resources and services to individuals to help them adapt and survive. While much progress has been made in this effort, there are still several unmet needs that have yet to be addressed. One of the most significant unmet needs is for mainstream adults to register just how much the world is changing, how it is impacts their lives, and what they need to do to adapt and survive this new environment. Consequently many adults, especially the Baby Boomer generation, are finding the rules upon which they have built their lives have changed. They are finding themselves ill-equipped to deal with these changes. When they find themselves unemployed, they are often unprepared to make the changes in attitudes and expectations necessary in order to obtain new employment. In addition, many others have built their lives on a foundation of a poor fit between self and career choice. Unfortunately for these individuals re-entering the job market in this economy may require extensive retraining, counseling and support to navigate a necessary transition into a new career field.
Therefore this non-profit resource center exists to address the needs not being addressed by the other institutions; bring those institutions together in collaboration to address the unmet needs of today’s adult population; and to help individuals take responsibility for addressing their own personal needs.
